A NATION ON THE VERGE

A year into Trump 2.0 and the State of our Union could not be more precarious than it is right now with thousands of masked federal immigration officers pulling people they suspect of being here illegally off the street and out of their cars to detain them indefinitely outside any due process.

ProPublica has reported more than 170 US citizens have been illegally detained by ICE in this race to rack up numbers.

Last month, two American citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both 37, were shot and killed in broad daylight in Minneapolis by federal immigration officers that Vice President Vance erroneously said had “absolute immunity.”

The Washington Post has reported that in dozens of communities the Trump junta is planning to create a $45 billon network of immigration detention jails over bi-partisan local opposition.

In the hours before the State of the Union, press reports President Trump is weighing a direct attack on Iran, which would be his second in his second term.

Earlier this year, without Congressional approval he bombed Venezuela and abducted that nation’s sitting President Nicholas Marduro.

For months. Trump’s obsession with the US taking Greenland threatened to upend the post World War II alliances that helped reduce the chance of nuclear war.

The Trump junta continues to blow up small boats in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacifica killing over 140 people the regime insists are drug dealers without offering any evidence, also without the advice and consent of Congress.

In a stinging rebuff of President Trump’s multi-billion dollar tariff scheme the US Supreme Court by a 6 to 3 vote the president had overreached his authority.

The New York Times reports that in dozens of cases federal judges have issued show cause orders as to why DOJ lawyers should not be held in contempt for flouting court orders.

The Trump Department continues to persist in trying to indict President Trump’s political opponents despite being rebuffed by sitting grand juries.

Meanwhile, the New York Times documented how well over one billion dollars has flowed to President Trump and his family in multiple quid pro quo arrangements.

“It is time to acknowledge what has become tragically obvious: the Trump administration is operating as a massive criminal enterprise. It lies, steals, extorts, and murders — all while cloaked in the awesome authority of the state. It is on a crime spree that puts Al Capone to shame,” opined the New York Daily News.

We need to all pay close attention.

Tonight WBAI will present President Trump’s State of the Union address at 9 p.m. At 8 p.m., the hour before Trump’s speech, we will carry the People’s State of the Union produced by Move.On.org.

We will also bring you the live formal Democratic Party’s response given this year by recently elected Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger.
