1000S MARCH FOR QUEER LIB IN NYC; PALESTINE & MAMDANI

Thousands March for Queer Liberation in NYC; Palestine & Mamdani in the March; & More

Voices of the Queer Liberation/Reclaim Pride March

On Sunday, June 30, thousands of people marched in the Reclaim Pride March from the AIDS Memorial in the West Village of NYC to Lenape Circle (aka Columbus Circle). The theme of the 7th annual march was "Resist! Reclaim! And Rejoice." The Reclaim Pride Coalition wrote, “As the results of the 2024 election have made clear, America’s LGBTQIA2S+ communities are under the greatest threat from the federal government we have experienced since the 1969 Stonewall uprising." According to a Reclaim Pride organizer, Jasmina Jz Sinanovic:

“The Trump Administration’s and its allies’ unrelenting attacks on our communities – particularly Trans, Nonbinary, and Gender Nonconforming people – combined with their horrific assaults on immigrants, healthcare, civil liberties, freedom of speech, student organizers and our constitutional rights, as well as global rise in fascism and right wing ideology, make this year’s Queer Liberation March more necessary than ever.”

Here are some interviews of participants conducted by Pauline Park and John Riley:

  • Mark Milano of ACT UP on the origins of Reclaim Pride.
  • Leah Tigers of Transexual Menace (On July 5th the Transexual Menace will be protesting NY Times coverage of the Trans movement, characterized by antitrans propaganda. The protest will be at the NYT Building, 620 Eighth Ave. at 41st St., from 10 AM-4PM.)
  • Eyad Alkurabi of Q-PEN (Queer Palestinian Empowerment Network), a queer Palestinian rights organization.

Thanks to the Rude Mechanical Orchestra for its music.

Palestine in the Queer Liberation March, Mamdani's Ambitious LGBT Agenda, the Anti-Zionist Dyke March, Biden Press Flak Karine Jean-Pierre Leading the NYC Pride March

Out-FM's Pauline Park and Bob Lederer will discuss Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic mayoral nominee who defeated Andrew Cuomo in a stunning primary upset and who has an ambitious agenda for LGBTQIA+ community empowerment. He briefly joined Sunday's Queer Liberation March. Pauline and Bob will also discuss the simultaneous corporate-sponsored NYC Pride March, which featured Genocide Joe Biden's mouthpiece Karine Jean-Pierre as one of its grand marshals. And Saturday's NYC Dyke March made history by stating an explicitly anti-Zionist position on Israel/Palestine.
