Con Sabor will speak to Pianist/Arranger/Composer/Producer Willie Rodriguez , formerly with La Excelencia, a conscientious Salsa Band known for sharp social lyrics. MR. Rodriguez will update us on the proposal to all levels of Government to fund a Salsa Museum just as they did for Hip Hop. A Salsa Museum will recognize and preserve the immense contribution of Afrocuban Music and its world-renowned exponents to the Cultural Landscape of NYC and the United States. Exponents from Cuba, NYC the Bronx, Puerto Rico such as Mario Bauza, Machito, Arsenio Rodriguez, Graciela, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, Eddie Palmieri, Rafael Cortijo, to name a few.
Con Sabor Latino will also speak with Eddie Muniz, Musical Director of Swing Sabroso a Salsa Band celebrating its 21st anniversary. Swing Sabroso has thrived by being a sought-after Band in the Gala and Scholarship and Special Events circuit because of a diverse repertoire designed to fulfill the most demanding musical expectations.
We will also talk to Master Percussionist Jose Mangual Jr. about his presentation of Legendary Salsa Icons, Vocalists Justo Betancourt, and Frankie Figueroa.
