COVID CRIME, A STOP ANTI ASIAN HATE PLAY

The play by Lionelle Hamanaka is based on an anti-Asian hate crime in Chinatown, during the surge in cases of Covid 19. It features Beth Griffith, Selear Duke, Sachiko Parker, JR Carter, and other great actors. Covid Crime is directed by Howard Pflanzer. It was recorded live at a Manhattan park in October, 2021. After the production, the auudience was treated to speeches by Shirley Ng, of Asian American Legal Defense Fund and Jackie Wang of Welcome to Chinatown.

Covid Crime is followed by an examination into the rise in Anti Asian xenophobia and violence by WBAI producers Mimi Rosenberg and Ken Nash. They offer a thank you package to our listeners, Stop Asian Hate, by calling our pledge line 212 209 2950 or by going online to give2wbai.org and selecting Stop Asian Hate.
