BEHIND THE PINK RIBBON

Pink ribbons have become synonymous with the fight against breast cancer, but the movement to “raise awareness” is often sponsored by corporations who would prefer not to raise awareness of the increased cancer risk linked to their products. In the news this week, Patti and Doug discuss how the rapid growth of data centers is causing hyperscalers to pull back on climate commitments, and how some politicians are working to reduce or eliminate restrictions on toxic chemicals. Then award-winning investigative reporter Liza Gross talks about her early days writing about the pink ribbon campaign and its corporate sponsors, and how other countries may be showing us the path toward a better world.
