COMBATTING ICE, FUNDING YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
On the Thursday, September 10, 2026 episode of City Watch, host Jeff Simmons talks with New York State Assemblymember Steven Raga about reports of repeated ICE enforcement activity in Woodside and other New York City communities. They will discuss the fear these operations are creating among immigrant families, concerns about due process and what state and local leaders can do in response.
Then, Kayleigh Zaloga, President and CEO of the New York State Coalition for Children’s Behavioral Health, joins the program to discuss the Coalition’s call for state leaders to invest a significant portion of New York’s potential $1.15 billion from the proposed Meta settlement in community-based youth mental health services. With only one in four New York children covered by Medicaid who need outpatient behavioral health care receiving it, advocates say the settlement presents a critical opportunity to expand access to care close to home.
