BATS IN THE CITY: EXPLORING NY’S NIGHTTIME WILDLIFE

New York City comes alive after dark—and that includes the bats flying above our parks, streets and neighborhoods.

On Sunday, August 23 at 9 a.m. ET, join hosts Erin Clarke and Jeff Simmons for a new edition of Animal Matters on WBAI 99.5 FM New York and streaming at WBAI.org.

Their guest is Nic Comparato, Principal Ecologist and founder of the Urban Bat Project NYC and a PhD student at Rutgers University. The conversation will explore the bats that call New York City home, where they can be found, the important role they play in urban ecosystems and what researchers are learning about their behavior and survival.

Listeners will also hear how climate change, development, habitat loss and public misconceptions affect bats—and what New Yorkers can do to help protect these remarkable and often misunderstood animals.
