THE BENEFITS OF COW CUDDLING
On Sunday, April 5, Animal Matters on WBAI 99.5 FM welcomes Dr. Katherine Compitus, DSW, LCSW-R, C-AAIS, to our live broadcast with hosts Jeff Simmons and Erin Clarke. Dr. Compitus is a Clinical Assistant Professor at New York University’s Silver School of Social Work, where she coordinates the Rockland and Westchester County campuses, chairs the Practice Elective Curriculum Area, and directs the Veterinary Social Work Post?Master’s Certificate Program.
She is the author of The Human–Animal Bond and Clinical Social Work Practice and an expert in how animals can support emotional well?being. In this episode, Dr. Compitus will explore the practice of “cow cuddling,” explaining why contact with cows can be calming and grounding and how the human–animal bond can be integrated into therapeutic settings.
