XIAN PYSCH
From the Soundboard is a program that usually focuses on concerts regardless of genre. This is where the artist and (or) group perfect the art of the “call and response” with its audience. On Tuesday, January 13, at midnight (that’s Monday into Tuesday), we will explore the bizarrely fascinating sounds of Xian Pysch (Christian Pyschedelic Rock).
Christian Psychedelic Rock (or Xian Psych) blends the surreal, experimental sounds of 1960s/70s psychedelic rock with Christian themes, focusing on spirituality, biblical stories, and transcendental experiences, often through fuzzy guitars, organs, and trippy atmospheres, creating a unique fusion of counterculture idealism and faith, exemplified by bands like The Electric Prunes and Fraction, emerging from the Jesus Movement era.
