NYCC--AIRBNB/COMMUNITY OPPORT TO PURCHASE ACT/COY
With Paul Graziano, Queens-based urban planner specializing in land use issues including zoning and contextual rezoning, development and preservation. Graziano is also an intrinsic part of the SAVE 1-FAMILY New York Coalition.
He'll be discussing the NY City Council and land use matters coming up including a bill to undue a NYC law limiting/prohibiting short term stays in ALL 1 & 2 homes--4 rooms per with the owner not being required on site--with concerns this will be huge incentive for venture capitalists & hedge funders etc. to buy up homes throughout the city, turning them into Air BnB hotels in the middle of residential neighborhoods. This, while we have a dire affordability in housing problem with little stock available for the less than wealthy.
Graziano will also focus on the Community to Purchase Act, permitting certain not-for-profits the first right to purchase residential buildings.
And, listeners will get updates on the City of Yes lawsuits, and lawsuits pending against the recent Charter Revision housing measures which passed, despite a slew of problems and concerns plus misleading wording.
