ARTIST MARC KEHOE ON CURATING VILLAGE ART EXHIBIT
ARTIST/CURATOR MARC KEHOE ON FRAMING THE VILLAGE, A GROUP EXHIBIT OF DOWNTOWN ARTISTS
On tonight’s show, we’ll be joined by artist and curator Marc Kehoe to discuss Framing the Village, his 4th group exhibition under the aegis of The Village Trip, an annual festival of culture and community. The exhibit, which shows at the Revelation Gallery at St. John’s in the Village, features painting, drawing, collage, sculpture and photography by downtown artists celebrating the West Village, the East Village and the Lower East Side. The theme this year is Freedomland! Where we experiment, where we create, where we have freedom to be who we are!
Marc Kehoe, who organizes and curates group exhibitions in both New York and Rhode Island, has also worked with Coney Island USA to create an enhanced entrance to their headquarters on the Riegelman Boardwalk, art directed a Mermaid Parade, painted an exterior mural at The Spookhouse, a dark ride on the Coney Island Bowery, and participated in numerous group exhibitions with the Coney Island Hysterical Society. He created a “painting performance” at the first Figment Arts Festival on Governor’s Island, as well as short films and performance evenings at The Kitchen and other downtown venues such as The Mudd Club, Darinka, Nada and Little Club 57. His work has been shown at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists’ Coalition, Art of Our Century Gallery, The Coney Island Museum, La Mama LaGalleria, TNC Gallery, Smart Clothes Gallery, Andrew Edlin Gallery and City Lore Gallery.
He is a longtime resident of the East Village.
