MUSICAL ARTISTS LORRAINE FEATHER& EDDIE ARKIN

CAT RADIO CAFÉ: SINGER/SONGWRITER LORRAINE FEATHER AND COMPOSER/ARRANGER EDDIE ARKIN ON THE GREEN WORLD, THEIR NEW CD

On tonight’s show, we’ll be joined by the great singer/songwriter Lorraine Feather and her longtime composing and producing collaborator, Eddie Arkin, to celebrate the release of their new cd, The Green World and the evolution of their three and a half decade-long, ever-evolving, multi-award winning collaboration and brilliant songbook.

Lorraine Feather, aka Billie Jane Lee Lorraine after godmother Billie Holiday, her mother Jane (once a big band singer, her mother’s ex-roommate Peggy Lee, and the song “Sweet Lorraine, is the daughter of the late great jazz writer Leonard Feather. She is a four-time Grammy nominee and with Eddie Arkin was nominated for the Critic’s Choice Award as well as one from the Hollywood Music in Media Awards for their song The Rules Don’t Apply, written for the Warren Beatty film of the same name. She is known for her lyrical wit, musical range and invention, and for plunging into emotional and psychological realms rarely addressed in popular song.

Eddie Arkin is as a noted television composer, film sound track and record producer, arranger, guitarist and songwriter. Among his many nominations and awards are an Emmy for composition and music director for The Pink Panther series, a Critic’s Choice Hollywood Music in Media Award paired with a nomination by the Georgia Film Critics as Best Songwriter For a Motion Picture for The Rules Don’t Apply.  and a BMI Music Award for composing the score for 138 episodes of the hit TV series Melrose Place. Arkin has produced and arranged extensively for Barry Manilow, including Manilow’s #1 Billboard Platinum album Because It’s Christmas and #1 Billboard Platinum Greatest Songs of the Fifties. His numerous film and television scores and songs are heard in Mask, Edtv, My Best Friend’s Wedding, Modern Girls, What Women Want, and the aforementioned Beatty film, The Rules Don’t Apply, whose title song was sung by Lorraine Feather.  His and Lorraine’s Grammy nominated albums include Ages, Attachments, and Flirting With Disaster.
