SPECIAL ON MUMIA ABU-JAMAL - FREE HIM NOW!
This is a special, two-hour (8-10 PM) fundraising edition of What's Happening, done jointly with Out-FM.
In 1970 Black Panther Party leader Huey Newton gave groundbreaking public support to women’s and gay liberation movements. Here’s Mumia Abu-Jamal, the brilliant Black revolutionary journalist unjustly serving life in prison, speaking with WBAI’s Out-FM: When you think about what Huey said…about gay folks and lesbian and queer folks, I must be honest with you, it was not well received by members of the party....But as usual, this was Huey at his finest.
Tune into two fund-drive programs building on Mumia’s first LGBTQ-focused interview in his 43 years in prison, as we demand his immediate freedom. On Wednesday, December 11th from 8 to 10 PM, Betty Davis and Out-FM's Bob Lederer will cohost. On Thursday, December 12th from 9 to 11 AM, Mimi Rosenberg (of Equal Rights and Justice) will cohost with Bob Lederer. Mumia will describe his decades-long evolution to solidarity with queer and trans liberation. And we’ll ask you to support this fearless radio station by becoming a donor or sustainer, that’s a BAI Buddy.
Again, that’s Wednesday from 8 to 10 PM, and Thursday from 9 to 11 AM, only
on People’s Radio, WBAI, 99.5 FM and wbai.org.
