While more states work to pass laws to strengthen protections, we’re witnessing an unprecedented number of measures that target people because of how they identify, and who they love.

I’m Jeff Simmons, and this Sunday morning, join me on WBAI for a 3-hour special – Pride and Promise, when we’ll explore the successes … and the setbacks … on the road to full equality

Joining me to cohost the show is Carlos Menchaca, of the most dynamic, progressive former members of the NYC Council.

You’ll hear from advocates on the frontlines fighting discriminatory measures that could scale back our rights… experts discussing mental health challenges … a historian who talked with dozens of openly gay elected officials about their journeys… and a teenager creating a safe space at her high school for LGBTQ students.

2022 has shaped up as one of the most challenging periods in the history of LGBTQ equality since the Stonewall Uprising more than a half century ago. So where do we draw the battle lines and turn obstacles into opportunities?
