Synopsis:

In this week’s segment we hear about U.S. government censorship of the news, and the end of Radio Sputnik. We also hear my words at a Julian Assange freedom celebration and the connections of his case with that of others such as the Uhuru 3, prosecuted and attacked because of their political activity. But first we hear about the Green Party of New York, which must wage a write-in campaign to give voters a choice and to regain ballot status that was taken by the democrats.

As election day approaches, New York has a rather dubious distinction. It is the only state in the country in which Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are the only presidential choices voters have listed on their ballots. Anyone wanting to choose other candidates will have to write those names in. We’re joined by Peter Lavenia, co-chair of the New York State Green Party. He explains why there is this lack of choice and how and why voters can choose the Green Party presidential and vice presidential candidates Jill Stein and Rudolph Ware. Peter Lavenia joins us from Albany.

Garland Nixon is a veteran journalist, with programs on youtube and other platforms, and on WPFW in Washington. He was a co-host of the program The Critical Hour, which was heard on Radio Sputnik, before Radio Sputnik disappeared from the airwaves. Garland Nixon joins us from Washington to discuss the politics which caused the end of Radio Sputnik and the implications of those actions for all independent media.

Margaret Kimberley, Black Agenda Report Executive Editor, recently spoke in Berkeley, California at an event celebrating the release of political prisoner Julian Assange. She connected his case with that of the Uhuru 3 and all incarcerated people.
