(227 Abolitionist place) In 2007 the property, a house at 227 Duffield in Downtown Brooklyn which was part of the underground railroad, was slated to be demolished so the city could build an underground parking garage, and micro-park.
The Abolitionist Heritage Center sued and proved the historic legacy of the home. The construction of the parking garage was canceled, and the property was preserved. At the address next door, 225 Duffield Street, a park was constructed. Abolitionist Place Park.
