    Synopsis:

Radio GAG and Gays Against Guns remembers and celebrates the legacy of Harvey Milk and the triumphs of the Gay Rights Movement he championed with interviews with Gay Rights activists including Harvey’s nephew, Stuart Milk of the Harvey Milk Foundation,

The show gives history and context for today’s LBGTQIA+ Rights movement, and explore the eerie connections between current demands to carry arms in legislative bodies and the murder of two revered officials by Dan White, an ex-cop whose “Twinkie Defense” and subsequent conviction of voluntary manslaughter with only minimal sentencing infuriated the Gay community and set off the “White Night” riots at San Francisco’s City Hall. Harvey predicted that his high profile and his push for gay rights would have punitive reactions, which is why he made a tape recording to be played only "in the event of my death by assassination," in which he expressed the wish that “If a bullet should enter my brain, let that bullet destroy every closet door in the country.”

In keeping with WBAI’s free speech, listener-sponsored radio structure, special premiums are offered to those who join WBAI as members. Nevo Zisin, Australian author of The Pronoun Lowdown, is interviewed and their book is offered to those joining WBAI at the $25.00 level.
