A BOLD PROPOSAL TO END THE ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN IMPASSE

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the United States last week. He held a joint press conference with Donald Trump on Wednesday, February 15. Before the U.S. trip, it was again made clear that he opposes a Palestinian state and the so-named two-state solution that has long been policy of the United States and Europe, as well as the basis for a seemingly never-ending peace process.

At the joint press conference, Trump seemed to move away from the U.S. two-state position, raising alarm from two-state supporters in the United States, Europe and in the Palestinian authority. But beyond the conservative leadership in both the U.S. and Israel, there are others, including some Palestinians, that are also questioning the reality of a two-state solution – but where do those positions differ?

Our guest is Ali Abunimah, co-founder of the Electronic Intifada website and author of One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse. We'll also discuss racism within the state of Israel as we continue our recognition of Black History Month in the United States. Then, we look back at the roots of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, starting at the founding of the state of Israel.
