DID THE 2018 WOMENS MARCH MARGINALIZE WOMEN OF COLOR?

Last Sunday, over 1.6 million demonstrators from around the country gathered for the second annual Women’s March.

While, local estimates in the New York Times reported crowds of 200,000 and 600,000 in Los Angeles, the turnout was a substantial decline from the more than 4 million marchers who showed up the previous year.

With the #MeToo movement dominating headlines and taking down some of the most powerful men across industries for unacceptable sexual conduct, what was the reason behind such a profound drop off in attendance?

Does the answer lie in the exclusion along racial lines that many women of color have accused organizers of? This week, host Jesse Lent explores this accusation in a special one-hour episode of “TrumpWatch” on WBAI, with Taylyn Washington-Harmon, author of the Jan. 22 Self Magazine op-ed “Not My Pussy Hat: Why I Didn't Participate in the Women's March This Year.” Jesse and Taylyn will also take listener calls.
