Cullen Hoback is an award-winning investigative filmmaker from Los Angeles. His latest documentary, "What Lies Upstream", is a scandalous political thriller focusing on an investigation into a chemical spill in West Virginia. The story spirals into an indictment of the entire system meant to protect drinking water, revealing cover-ups at the highest levels of government. "What Lies Upstream" was released theatrically yesterday, January 12 and on VOD/DVD January 16 (Gravitas Ventures). It is also slated to air on PBS' Independent Lens Earth Day 2018. Hoback's previous documentaries, "Monster Camp" (2007) and "Terms and Conditions May Apply" (2013), have shown in top festivals and theaters around the world. Terms And Conditions May Apply -- a humorous but chilling documentary about digital privacy -- had a significant theatrical release, was also picked up by Participant's Pivot, and was broadcast in over 20 countries. Hoback has appeared on MSNBC, CNN, NPR, Fox, HuffPo Live and now BAI, and has written op-eds for The Guardian and other major media outlets. He is also a Film Independent Fellow.
