They discuss systemic racist police violence plaguing the United States and explore the merits of reforming the police vs. defunding and abolition.
Then, co-hosts Julie Hurwitz and Marjorie Cohn speak with Professor Peter Hammer about the recent book he co-authored with Professor Emeritus Edward Littlejohn, titled No Equal Justice: The Legacy of Civil Rights Icon George W. Crockett Jr. The grandson of a slave, Crockett was the first Black judge to serve on Detroit’s criminal court and co-founder of the National Lawyers Guild. He played a critical role in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.
