First, co-hosts Heidi Boghosian and Marjorie Cohn interview Kamau Franklin from Community Movement Builders about police violence perpetrated against Stop Cop City protesters in Atlanta as well as law enforcement’s murder of Tyre Nichols in Memphis. They discuss systemic racist police violence plaguing the United States and explore the merits of reforming the police vs. defunding and abolition.

Then, co-hosts Julie Hurwitz and Marjorie Cohn speak with Professor Peter Hammer about the recent book he co-authored with Professor Emeritus Edward Littlejohn, titled No Equal Justice: The Legacy of Civil Rights Icon George W. Crockett Jr. The grandson of a slave, Crockett was the first Black judge to serve on Detroit’s criminal court and co-founder of the National Lawyers Guild. He played a critical role in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s.
