LaRenn Maman Elaine (aka Queen Mother Imakhu) brings her years of cultural wisdom to WBAI with her show, SHENU Living. In the Kemetic (Ancient Egyptian) language, Shenu means "Ancestors, lake, protective circle, empowered speech, opinions, cognitive thought, bringing things full circle." SHENU Living is your Afro-Inspiration session. Holistic wellness, insightful guests, uplifting music, meditation, arts and culture awareness, and pertinent social commentary.

Deeply entrenched in African Spiritual Traditions for four decades, LaRenn Maman Elaine is an initiated Nganga, Manbo Asogwe, Elder High Priestess, and enstooled Queen Mother,. A yogini since age twelve, 

LaRenn is a certified Yoga instructor, but teaches yoga and meditation from their African roots.
LaRenn Maman Elaine has a documented family history in the United States going back to the 1500s, yet includes Latin-Caribbean, Gullah Geechee, Nottoway Native, Black Southern and Jersey Girl roots. She has enjoyed a fifty year career as a professional in the arts. A professional storyteller, vocalist, musician, dancer, choreographer, multidisciplinary artist, and author, LaRenn Maman has brought her talents to diverse, multigenerational audiences across the U.S. and Canada. As a cultural scholar, LaRenn Maman has authored books about Ancient African culture, and is a member of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (ASCAC). She produces educational content through her company, Blacknificently LatinX Media. A career broadcaster/producer in AM/FM radio, Queen Mother Imakhu became the first African American woman to own and operate a 24/7 Black consciousness online/internet station, AKERU Nu Afrakan Network. She served as a columnist for First World News, Paint Magazine, and Nubian News.
 

An ardent activist, she has been a member of People's Organization for Progress since 2013. She is currently a WBAI Local Station Board member.
