Pacifica Radio Network’s We Decide: 2025 Change In Action

LIVE Coverage of Zohran Mamdani's History Making Win As It Happened

Arne Arnesen, of the Attitude with Arne Arnesen, Ariana Orozco, associate editor with the Indypendent joined Bob Hennelly, WBAI's City Hall reporter for a transformative election night that saw Democrats sweep every significant race across the country.

Over the arc of the five hour broadcast, our team of reporters Paul DiRienzo (Cuomo), Rebecca Myles WBAI News Director (Sliwa) and John Tarleton, editor of the Indypendent (Mamdani) bought us the sights and sounds of the most consequential election night in a generation with a turnout not seen since 1969.

In contests in New York City, New Jersey, Virginia and California inroads made by Donald Trump with young and Latino voters in 2024 were undone as a near record turnout carried 34-year-old Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani to victory in his bid to become the Mayor of New York City.

Producer Jesse Lent brought us the victory speeches from Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-Va.) and Rep. Mikie Sherrill's (D-NJ) who both won their races for Governor by significant margins. We carried LIVE Assemblyman Mamdani's uplifting address.

Early on we got a breakdown for Lauren Schmitt, KPFA's News Director, on California's Proposition 50, to help that state reshape its Congressional district maps to help Democrats counter redistricting efforts by the GOP to pick up seats in states like Texas through racial gerrymandering.

Lauren shares her wide ranging interview with California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley N. Weber who oversees that state's elections.

We get debriefed on the significance of the Judicial retention elections in Pennsylvania from Sophia McClennen, Professor of International Affairs and Comparative Literature at Pennsylvania State University.

Our panel of experts Larry Hamm, New Jersey social justice activist, Out-FM host Pauline Park, political scientist and LGBT activist and Professor Peter Woolley, founder of FDU's PublicMind Poll unpack the underlying issues like the suspension of food stamps and President Trump's draconian mass deportation strategy.
