Adams Administration Rolls out Covid Strategy Promising Equity
- New York City 12/30/2021 by Linda Perry (WBAI)

NYC Mayor-elect Eric Adams rolled out his plan to try and keep New Yorkers safe as NYS announced another new record of 74,000 positive Covid tests. Adams says we can’t shut down our city again or allow NYC to sink into economic despair. His focus is on vaccines and testing and says we need to arm ourselves against the next wave by fighting covid with anti-virals.

Dr. Ashwin Vasan who comes on board as NYC Health Commissioner in March is a professor at Columbia’s Mailman School of Public Health and runs Fountainhead, a mental health non-profit. He says the Adams administration will increase access to monoclonal antibody treatments and oral antivirals with a focus on equity in reaching underserved and high risk populations.
