Ravi Bhalla wins Hoboken election, becomes N.J.'s first Sikh mayor
—Election results are in—Ben Max of Gotham Gazette gives us details on resounding victories in NYC—In Nassau and Westchester, Democrats Flip Two County Executive Seats—In the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial races, Democrats beat Republicans. Tom Perez and Barack Obama among other top Dems campaigned for Phil Murphy. He won handily in New Jersey, putting to bed ties to the Chris Christie's administration with his Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno's loss to Murphy. Christie leaves the Governor's job with an approval rating of about 14%. The Republican loss of Ed Gillespie to Democrat Ralph Northam in Virginia particularly stuck in Donald Trump's craw.
—Many applauded firsts. Among them, Danica Roem is the first openly transgender woman to be elected to a state office in Virginia and Ravi Bhalla is the new Mayor of Hoboken. He becomes New Jersey's first Sikh Mayor.
