NYPD Complaint App

New York City's police watchdog agency has a new web application to make it easier to track the status of complaints.

The feature is being launched Thursday afternoon on the Civilian Complaint Review Board's website.

It enables civilians or police officers to enter a complaint number and check the status dates for key steps.

Some of the steps include interviews conducted, supervisory review and the date a case is closed.

It doesn't identify civilians or officers — only the precinct, incident date and complaint date.

CCRB Chairman Richard Emery proposed the application. He says it's just the beginning of a more transparent, nimbler agency. He hopes to shorten investigative times and better explain findings to both police and civilians.
