As we approach Thanksgiving and begin to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah, I want you to know how thankful my family is for your support over the last year -- and how humbled I am by the opportunity you've given me to serve.
These two holidays, observed by so many across our city, celebrate our gratitude for the blessings we have received and our awe at the strength of a brave few to stand up for freedom, tolerance, and diversity.
We live in a city of blessings and miracles. And none greater than the way New Yorkers come together as family, as friends, and as neighbors to help each other in times of need.
When Chirlane, Chiara, Dante, and I give thanks tomorrow, we will be thinking of people like you who have given your time and passion to make this city stronger and more just –- to make this one city.
I hope you'll join us and New Yorkers across the five boroughs in offering thanks for the gifts the past year has brought and keeping those less fortunate in our minds and hearts.
Happy holidays,
Bill
