The Arts Magazine is a vibrant anthology mix of cultural news, views and interviews, and the organic and intricate ways that art always intertwines and fuses dynamically with political currents of the day. The Arts Magazine is the only show that provides weekly, in-depth coverage of film; arts news and scoops with a hard core political edge; art alerts for listeners; listings and ticket giveaways for community cultural events; live performance and dramatic readings; contemplative voyages through web culture; and music served up with an enticing, multi-cultural international flavor.
Host/producer profiles:
Prairie Miller is film reporter and co-host on the Arts Magazine, producer for the WBAI Womens Collective, Arts News And Reviews editor and film contributor to the wbai.org website, and a former producer on Soundtrack, and Reel Women on Talk In The Morning. Prairie has written articles and poems here and internationally. She is also the recipient of the International Writers And Artists Association's Excellence in Journalism Award for her WBAI coverage of Javier Corcuera's film, Back Of The World (La Espalda Del Mundo). The Award is bestowed for "distinguished literary, intellectual, artistic and humanistic contributions." Prairie has two published poetry collections, including Arguments With America (Pemmican Press), and Legends (John Brown Press).
Peggy Dominique has been with the Arts Magazine shows since their original founding in 1990, and has been with WBAI as a producer since that time. She is also the sound engineer of the show.
Mary Ann Miller is a former co-host of Talk In The Morning, and a member of the WBAI Women's Desk.
