BENEFIT CONCERT FOR WBAI- IT'S TIME TO WALK THE TALK
- The Cutting Room 09/26/2013
WBAI 99.5fm, one of New York’s oldest listener sponsored, community radio stations is having a benefit concert at The Cutting room on Thursday, November 14, 2013, with legendary folk singer, and songwriter Pete Seeger as the headliner.
Seeger will be accompanied by one of the biggest names in folk music; composer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist David Amram.
Tagged as the “master musician” or the “spiritual agitator,” WBAI First Voices Indigenous Radio’s very own Tiokasin Ghosthorse, will be in attendance along with the band The Last Internationale, described as “impassioned Folk-rockers” by Rolling Stone magazine.
After experiencing severe blows from the financial crisis and Super Storm Sandy, the radio station was forced to move from their Wall Street location. However, thanks to their dedicated listeners, and sponsors, WBAI is regrouping and is in the process of building recording studios. For the time being, the offices are located three blocks up from the Barclays Center and the studios are at the City College of New York in Harlem. This benefit concert will help WBAI work under one roof, again.
